Open Call: «The Court»
Ingri Fiksdal and Louis Schou-Hansen are looking for VOLUNTEER EXTRAS for their performance The Court
Deadline: 15 September 2026
Ingri Fiksdal and Louis Schou-Hansen are looking for three volunteers to join as extras in their new performance The Court. The performance is part of Bergen Internasjonale Teater’s programme and will take place inside the brand new Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus on Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Monday 23 November 2026 and will be part of BITs TESTIVAL.
Participating in The Court is a unique opportunity to gain insight into an artistic practice situated at the intersection of choreography, historical research, and speculative fiction. As part of the cast, you will work closely with and perform alongside an international ensemble, becoming an integral part of a piece that, in a playful manner, seeks to disrupt and reimagine Western dance history as a sensory, embodied experience. You will be part of a fictional baroque court in which you hang out, perform everyday activities such as playing cards, gossiping, walk around, improvising little dances (with clear instructions), pretending to take a nap, eating, simulating animals, speaking to the audience, etc. All of it will be easy to learn and you will only perform materials you feel at ease with. Throughout the process, the ensemble will offer professional guidance and make sure that you feel ready and comfortable on stage.
Who can be an extra in The Court?
- No prior performance experience is needed, but an openness and interest in art is an advantage.
- The extras should have some physical and mental stamina as the performance is 3 hours long.
- Adults of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
What to expect
- You’ll get a 2-day workshop to tune into the piece, where you’ll learn a number of both practical and absurd tasks to perform during the performance.
- You will be provided with baroque-inspired costumes.
- Participation is not compensated.
Workshops and performances dates
In preparation of the performance you will need to participate in two workshops in advance, and all 3 performances taking place in Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus:
Workshop 1: Thursday 19 November, 16:30–20:30
Workshop 2: Friday 20 November, 16:30–20:30
Performance 1: Saturday 21 November, 19:00–22:00
Performance 2: Sunday 22 November, 17:00–20:00
Performance 3: Monday 23 November, 10:00–13:00
All extras will need to be on site 1 hour before and 30 min after the performances.
