In <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Work Body<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> he is inspired by the poem <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Le ceneri di Gramsci<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> (The Ashes of Gramsci), which Pier Pasolini dedicated to Antonio Gramsci, the co-founder of the Italian Communist Party, who was also physically disabled. Turinsky uses Pasolini&#8217;s sensual and intellectual homage to the Marxist thinker to find an answer to the general shift to the right in the working-class milieu, which is permeated by fantasies of masculinity.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Gramsci always emphasised the <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">buon senso<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">, the<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2018authentic core\u2019, in the proletarian experience. What about the dormant longing to socialise autonomously and with one&#8217;s own kind? What about the erotic, but also narcissistic undertones of comradeship and brotherhood? And how does communist desire relate to sexual desire?<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Building, singing, speaking, dancing, transverse to the capitalistically organised division of labour, Turinsky not only subverts the separation of mental and manual labour, but also the boundaries between choreographic intervention, concert and political agitation. <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Work Body<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> creates a space for resonances between the \u2018disabled\u2019 and \u2018working\u2019 body. As choreographer, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\">theorist<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\"> and curator he is one of the most important disabled movement thinkers in the German-speaking world. Academically trained as a philosopher at the University of Vienna, Michael began immersing himself in the world of inclusive dance in 2006. He later questioned the term of inclusion and coined his own term \u2018Crip Choreography\u2019 to describe his unique artistic practice, which deals with the specific<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\">, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\">resistant materiality of the body in processes of subversion, de-<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW123430247 BCX0\">organisation<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\"> and re-<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW123430247 BCX0\">organisation<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW123430247 BCX0\"> of dominant movement forms and qualities.
