Rectum Crocodile by the Caribbean artist and fashion designer Marvin M’toumo is a decolonial tale, a fashion show and poetry in dance, which questions slavery, colonialism and white masculinity. On stage, seven performers and many more character’s tackle questions of identity, stereotypes and discrimination in a series of tableaux guided by a determined and clever, but not so innocent child. Inspired by Caribbean carnivals, bodies, voices and couture costumes are heard and seen, like a resounding revenge.
With Rectum Crocodile, Marvin M’toumo, his fashion label by the same name and his company Hibiscus Culturiste continue the hybrid, political and romantic work begun with Concours de larmes; their first show to combine fashion, poetry, dance and performance.
