A poetic and energetic evening featuring 3 dance performances by Ole Kristian Tangen, Elise Nansve Mjelde & Marceau Laouchez and Eik Leknesund Elnes.
Idea: Ole Kristian Tangen
Choreograph: Ole Kristian Tangen
Dancers: Even Eileraas, Ole Kristian Tangen
Music: Sverre Breivik, Vetle Junker
Live visuals: Ola Olsen Lysgaard
Together with dancer Even Eileraas and musicians Sverre Breivik and Vetle Junker, Ole Kristian Tangen has been in recidency through BIT and developed a new performance at Samvirket in Fjaler. Hereafter they come to Bergen to show an excerpt from the process of a body remembered at Prøverommet.
The project begins somewhere in the bodily and sensory experience of stillness and transition, drawing on a personal experience that to varying degrees has helped to redefine Tangen’s understanding of body, time and presence. Through different approaches to physicality and the use of sound, they will investigate how a physical vacuum is experienced, and how tactility and touch become a tool for navigating through the unknown.
Ole Kristian Tangen bio
Ole Kristian Tangen began his career in Spain under artistic director Catherine Allard in the company IT DANSA. He has danced on some of Europe’s most prestigious stages and festivals, and has worked closely with Ina Christel Johannessen (zero visibility corp.). He established the company Tangen|Benzal (2015–2022) in collaboration with Jesús Benzal, and he has created commissioned works for companies in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Spain. Tangen is interested in physicality and the possibilities that are created through physicality in relation to others, the expressive body and the dialogue that is created in the scenic expression.
For Prøverommet Elise Nansve Mjelde & Marceau Laouchez will present Greatness – a duet, composed through a score built from daily gestures and playful, even silly, movements. The voice, though rarely used, punctuates the silence with moments of surprise. Characters appear and disappear, creating uncertainty and tension, shaping a dynamic that resists predictability.
Elise Nansve Mjelde bio
Elise Nansve Mjelde is a dance artist from Bergen, now based in Oslo. Elise is a graduate of SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, where she worked with Manuela Ronda, Edivaldo Ernesto and Eduardo Torraj, among others, and developed her own works. She is currently part of the company Nagelhus Schia Productions and develops her own projects, such as Greatness. As a dancer, she is interested in the balance between extreme physicality and stage presence.
Marceau Laouchez bio
Marceau Laouchez is a dancer from France. He graduated from Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (S.E.A.D) in 2025. Marceau is based between Lille (France), Bergen and Oslo (Norway). His recent work includes Greatness, Ecstasy-removes your eyes, Funeral Home by Bogumiła Rozwadowska and Bébe by Julie Botet. As a dancer he is interested by the use of the body associated with the voice, as well as the face.
The creature gathers contour as I catch the breath of a becoming beast was made in Stockholm after two years of spinal-injury recovery. This work traces the fragile return of movement. Built from collages of lost functions and hard-won reimaginings, the choreography follows a Beast, their name for the unruly force of creativity that pushes through any circumstance. Rather than taming it, Elnes sketches its edges, letting it run. A textured soundscape, woven from memories of rehabilitation, accompanies its passage.
Eik Leknesund Elnes bio
Eik is a choreographer and multimedia artist trained in performance, visual art, and dance pedagogy. Moving between bodies, images, and atmospheres, their work traces queer sensibilities, fractured memories, and the unstable edges of the real.
We at BIT are pleased that our audience consists of diverse people; individuals with different experiences and corresponding unique needs.
Some of our visitors enjoy being surprised, shocked, and challenged, while others may wish to avoid certain content. We invite anyone who wants to know more about one of our events, regardless of what or why, to contact Jay at jay@bitteater.no or by calling +47 55 23 22 35.
Prøverommet has been running since 1998, originally in BIT’s former venue Teatergarasjen for 10 years, now popping up at various venues throughout the seasons. It’s a low threshold environment to try out new artistic material in front of an audience using any medium: dance, theatre, poetry, visual art, music… The programme is open to participate in and attend, with at least 10 events per year. Almost 2500 projects have been presented so far!
