Welcome to the second day of Dans – en fest! – a mini-festival for works-in-progress in dance. Today, we dive right into the heart of the festival. Throughout the afternoon and evening, you’ll get an up-close look at the processes of dancers and choreographers, and be among the very first to discover what is taking shape.
Dans – en fest! is a collaboration between Bergen Internasjonale Teater, Carte Blanche – Norway’s national company for contemporary dance, and Bergen Dansesenter.

During Dans – en fest! a Pay What You Can ticket system is used. Here you can choose between three price levels – regardless of the performance: 150,– 275,– or 350,–. The idea is simple: You pay what suits you, and together we contribute to a more open and inclusive theatre. The most affordable price level is the guiding price for members of BT Fordel.
The festival pass has two price levels that you can choose between freely, and gives you access to all programmes on all days.

Salman Rushdie said: “We need stories to understand ourselves.” This is my story of who I am. A solo performance that looks at identity through movement and text. How did I become who I am. A life, a journey, a story, a reflection and a retrospective.
Lilian Maria Bjertnes has worked as a freelance dancer, choreographer, teacher and producer in Mozambique, Senegal, New York, Oslo and Bergen for 45 years. In recent years she has worked as a stand-up comedian and appeared in the short films Dukker og Drinker, and Proof of Concept – film for a project.
Graduated from the Ballet Institute, Oslo Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance, New York, 4 years, modern dance where she studied with pioneers in modern dance such as Hanya Holm, Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis. Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, 2 years guest artist.

Bringing together an eclectic collection of words and movements to offer an experience of the diverse and beautiful world of circles. How do words move us physically, emotionally and metaphorically? And how can words, in return, be choreographed? An ‘open doors’ rehearsal sharing exploring the movement materials and the durational format of the work. You are welcome to pop in and out as you wish and watch, read and imagine with the dancers!
Katja Nyqvist is a Finnish-born dance artist and educator based in Bergen. She has worked for many years as a performer and improviser, especially in site-specific settings, with choreographers including Marit Loe Bjørnstad, Rosemary Lee, JN Harrington and Thomas Hauert and groups Free Range Orchestra (UK), Sheeps (UK) as well as ImproLaBergen (NO). In recent years, Katja has started developing her own creative work through her curiosity in language, imagery and improvisation.

Carol Stampone invites you to stay with her work-in-progress, dancing with the patriarchy. It is an experiment, an attempt to practice revolutionary time. It is at the same time a return to her previous book fragile certainties, and a leap to reach her part-time mom, the book she is currently writing. She has hopes that some ghosts will jump in and help her show what cannot be said.
Carol Stampone is a Brazilian writer and artist, based in Bergen. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Philosophy and a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University in Bergen. Her current research is driven by questions related to hospitality, love, social justice, and the role of writing and art in healing, individually and collectively. Although she is terrified of change, her water knows that Octavia was not wrong to claim that the only lasting truth is change.

remember the… is a meditation on what the body carries – how memories are recalled and forgotten, how the tomorrow of yesterday changes each time it is remembered. Through movement and sound, the performance wants to evoke the transitory and fleeting nature of memory.
Rita María Muñoz Farías is a performance artist and choreographer based in Bergen. The body is a central part of all of Muñoz’s works, and their practice is often linked to exploring the limits of their body in relation to its surrounding space and materials. Vulnerability, uncomfortability and the life of feelings are an important part of their work, for stage work, text and videos. They hold an MFA in visual arts from the department of Arts, Music and Design of the University of Bergen and a BA in contemporary dance from Iceland University of the Arts

Horse in Flames examines how systems of power exploit human vulnerability, and how the resulting disappointment and despair can be transformed into strength. Through dance, spoken text, and simple materials, it stages the process of human resistance.
Shelmith Øseth is a dancer based in Bergen and Oslo. Her movements are characterised by experience from contemporary dance, and various traditional African dance techniques. She has worked on several theatre and dance projects at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen and Nordic Black Theater in Oslo, among others. Øseth has operated both independently and as part of companies such as Theater ZeBU and Nordic Beasts in Denmark, as well as Wiels in Brussels. The focus on social and political aspects with the pure expression of dance is what matters to her.

The working title Buckle points to the constraint and the potential in a performative act. Being attached to things – held by particular conditions, places and objects whilst heading into a future of yet to be defined meaning and resonance. By touching, posing and naming Buckle is tracing figures in time. It observes and tracks itself – frames the attention, bodies that open up and hook onto to explore shared time, anticipation and memory.
Oda Brekke is an artist based in Bergen and Stockholm. In her practice she works with choreography, dance and text, and explores hybrid formats between performance, installation and printed material.
Her work has been presented at MDT, BIT, Improspeckije Zagreb Museum for Samtidskunst and Revolve Performance Art days. Her texts have been published in magazines such as Bastard, Maska and OEI. She is currently organizing the conversation series Staged at höjden studios and choreographing Rasp with Stina Ehn, a piece for six dancers premiering at Hägerstensåsens Medborgarhus in May 2026.

DANS DANSE MUSIQUE MUSIKK is a new creation by Louis Barreau, commissioned by Kvinnereller Performing Arts Company and initiated by Norwegian dance artists Brita Grov and Sara Røisland Torsvik in dialogue with works by composers Agathe Backer-Grøndahl and Anja Lauvdal. Bridging French and Norwegian cultures, the piece explores music through bodies, space, and time. Blending abstraction with dynamic movement, it celebrates the joy of togetherness across borders.
Kvinnereller is a Bergen based Performing Arts Company founded in 2018 by dance artists Brita Grov and Sara Røisland Torsvik. Both graduated from Trinity Laban in London. For this project they are collaborating with French choreographer Louis Barreau which focuses his work on the intersection of music and choreography. Trained at the Conservatoire de la Roche-sur-Yon and at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, where he earned an award for excellence in choreography
