Kristina Melbø leaves BIT

Kristina Melbø Valvik has been a key part of Bergen Internasjonale Teater since 2016, and as she now moves on to new challenges, she leaves behind a significant contribution to the institution.

Kristina joined BIT as curator of Prøverommet, where she maintained a close dialogue with a large number of artists who developed and presented projects across various platforms. She has demonstrated a strong understanding of the artistic process and has been an important supporter and collaborator for many artists and projects throughout her years at BIT. She has also worked as a producer and contributed to the development of the discourse program during the METEOR and Oktoberdans festivals.

Kristina has had particular responsibility for our Nordic networks, such as Nordic Dance Net and the Nordic Residency Exchange Program, in addition to overseeing our residency programs. In 2020, she became part of the newly established curatorial group, which took on shared responsibility during a challenging period in BIT’s history. In this role, she has contributed to the programming of both seasonal and festival programs, with a strong professional foundation.

Over the past year, Kristina has been on leave from BIT to work as a producer for dancer and choreographer Harald Beharie, and we wish her all the best as she now continues her career beyond BIT.

Kristina – thank you for your contributions, and we wish you all the best for the future!
