BIT Voices

What do you really think?
With BIT Voices, you get to say it out loud.

Now you can join Bergen Internasjonale Teater’s new audience group: BIT Voices! We are looking for 12–15 people living in and around Bergen who will visit selected performances and voice their honest opinions with us.

The group will consist of people with different perspectives and experiences. Whether you love theatre, rarely go, or have never seen contemporary performance before, we’re interested in hearing what you think. Anyone can join!

You don’t need any theatre knowledge — just curiosity and a willingness to speak your mind. Participants receive free tickets and an honorarium of NOK 5000 for taking part. The gatherings will be moderated.

Deadline for signing up: Friday 24 April

Why BIT Voices?

BIT Voices is part of Bergen Internasjonale Teater’s ongoing work to strengthen the dialogue between the theatre and the people who live in and around the city. By bringing together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, we hope to learn more about how BIT’s programme is experienced. The conversations in the group will help shape the development of BIT’s artistic programme and audience work.

What to expect?

As part of the group, you will:

  • Attend 4–5 selected performances in Bergen between May 2026 until summer 2027.
  • Join short feedback sessions after each performance. These informal and relaxed conversations focus on your immediate reactions and impressions. Maximum duration 1 hour.
  • Take part in group meetings (around 2 hours) In these sessions we will discuss the performances, the programme and the theatre in more depth together with a moderator.

The meetings will mainly be held in English. Your English does not need to be perfect. We are happy to support participants who feel less confident, and interpreter options can be explored if needed.

What you receive

  • Free tickets to selected BIT performances
  • A honorarium of NOK 5,000 for participating in the project
  • The chance to be among the first to experience performances at Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus during our testing period in autumn 26.
  • An opportunity to influence the future development of BIT’s programme
  • A chance to meet new people, exchange ideas, and experience theatre in a new way

Who can take part?

Anyone who lives in or around Bergen! You might be a student, a parent, retired, working, unemployed, new to the city, or someone who has lived here your whole life.

You might go to the theatre often, rarely, or never. The most important thing is that you are curious and willing to share your honest thoughts.

We will bring together a group with a wide range of perspectives and life experiences. Participants join as individuals, not as representatives of particular identities or communities.

How to take part

Interested? Fill out our short form (5–7 minutes) to tell us a little about yourself and why you would like to join.

The questions in the form help us put together a group with different perspectives and experiences.

Questions about background or identity are optional. You only share what you feel comfortable sharing.

Deadline for signing up: Friday 24 April

About the selection process

Your information will be kept confidential and used only to select the group. After the selection process is complete, all information from you’ve shared in the form will be deleted.

Participants are selected as individuals, not as representatives of specific groups or identities.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Think this sounds exciting, but also a bit scary? If you have questions, or would prefer to talk to someone instead of filling out the form, please contact us — we’d be happy to talk to you and explain more!

About Bergen Internasjonale Teater

Bergen Internasjonale Teater (BIT) was founded in 1984 and has long been an important part of Bergen’s cultural life.

BIT co-produces and presents Norwegian and international performing arts and is also the organisation behind the festivals METEOR and Oktoberdans, as well as the open testing arena Prøverommet.

For many years BIT was based in Teatergarasjen in Nøstet. Since the building was demolished in 2008, BIT has presented performances at venues across the city.

In summer 2026, BIT will move into its new home: Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus.
