A humorous, colourful spectacle that falls apart from the very beginning
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC is a theatrical cabaret about the strive for greatness and the beauty of failing at it together. The performance questions what it truly means to be great and proposes failure as a political act against the pressures of contemporary life under capitalism. But most importantly, it’s a collective attempt to let go and find meaning in the moments in between:
A silence that lasts a little too long.
A joke that doesn’t land.
A costume that rips.
From the moment you enter, the rules of the theatre begin to blur. The Amazing welcomes you with a glass of bubbles, gently dissolving the distance between audience and actor. At the centre of it all, a theatre curtain appears to have fallen from the sky. Far too many spotlights shine on the draping red velour, turning the curtain into a makeshift stage. You’re invited to gather around it as you would around a dinner table. And before you know it, a chicken has pointed out the people of power in the room, a slow dance opens up a portal and a ballerina crawls on stage to shed her layers.
